Our people

The team at Cosimmetry combines a range of decision science skills, such as operational analysis, modelling, simulation and wargaming, to research grade software development, AI, and behavioural science.

Rob Solly Link to heading

  • CEO and co-founder

Rob has 30 years of experience in supporting complex decisions in the Defence and Security sectors. Before Cosimmetry, Rob led a cutting-edge team of academics and engineers developing new simulation, AI and data science approaches at Improbable Defence. Before that, he led Dstl’s Defence and Security Analysis Division. Rob used a range of analytical techniques to support strategic decisions in the MOD and DOD, including on four defence reviews and major procurement and design decisions including the F35, QECV, and numerous C4ISR projects.

Amanda Coleman Link to heading

  • CSO and co-founder

Amanda has 30 years of experience in analysis and consultancy across the spectrum of SMEs, Tech, Defence and Government. Initially trained as an engineer, Amanda took on responsibility for operational analysis of systems and policies at the MoD and Dstl. As Head of the Defence Concepts and Doctrine Centre’s Analysis and Research Team, Amanda applied novel analytical approaches to challenge and test strategic choices. Subsequently, Amanda led QinetiQ’s consulting practice, supporting strategic decisions in the UK and abroad, before becoming Chief Scientist at innovative data Cervus, and a principal researcher at Improbable.

Chris Major Link to heading

  • CTO and co-founder

Chris joined Cosimmetry from Improbable Defence, where he was lead engineer on a successful and highly innovative multi-million pound synthetic environment demonstrator project. Chris brings a broad range of engineering experience, spanning the Computer Games industry, National Security and Intelligence, through to defence planning and decision making

Daniel Tarshish Link to heading

  • COO and co-founder

Daniel leads the company’s operations, strategic partnerships and business development. Daniel spent 28 years in the UK Government, serving in diplomatic and national security roles across the United Nations, Europe, South Asia and the Middle East before moving into the technology sector in 2022.

Dr James Griffin Link to heading

  • Senior researcher and Co* product owner

James’ journey from teaching across diverse educational settings to developing Reciprocal Equilibria Theory and applying data science to real-world learning systems reflects a rare combination of academic depth, practical execution, and systems-level thinking. His experience leading behavioural research, scaling educational provision and designing relational network analysis tools, underpins the translation of complex human behaviour into actionable insights that improve organisational decision-making. He is an expert in behavioural analytics, education data strategy, and human-centred systems design.

Dr Michalina Pacholska Link to heading

  • Developer and researcher

Michalina has a PhD in computer science and is Cosimmetry’s AI Lead. She has considerable experience of interdisciplinary projects and collaborations. At Improbable, she delivered an ARCD track 2 project bridging the simulation-to-real gap in cyber defence, and developed a range of AI methods to speed up the creation of agent-based models from data. At DeepMind, she adapted an early AlphaFold2 method, achieving multiple orders of magnitude speed-up. At Google, she implemented a data-processing pipeline that reduced data flow from 2TB per day to a few GB per day (without information loss), enabling further data analysis and resource savings.

Dr Seb Bending Link to heading

  • Developer and researcher

Seb has a Ph.D. in Particle Physics, having developed analysis software for long-baseline neutrino experiments before moving into the simulation, modelling, and AI. Seb has previously focused on research into program synthesis, using evolutionary algorithms to generate agent behaviour in ABMs, and the development of software for performing simulation-based inference on arbitrary scientific models with normalising flows.

Thomas Turrell-Croft Link to heading

  • Senior developer

Thomas is an experienced software engineer having led teams in the commercial sector to develop innovative cloud-based solutions, software configuration management and continuous integration. He has led projects in optimising system performance, scalability, and maintainability. He has also developed online adult learning tools.

Dr Bill Edwards Link to heading

  • Developer and researcher

Bill has a PhD in Physics, and is an experienced modeler. He has worked closely with the MoD and other government departments to develop models of complex systems. Bill is also a reservist intelligence analyst for the UK Armed Forces.
